Upcoming Projects Update...
Lots going on right now, but I thought it was long past time for a quick rundown of upcoming releases and current projects --
And look for more announcements in the coming months, along with more changes here on the blog and on my website, www.matthewdowsmith.com.
- Blackburn Burrow #4 comes out (at least according to Amazon's website) on March 12th, wrapping up the mini-series by Ron Marz and myself, based on Jay Levy's original film script. Here's a look at the wonderful cover by Brian Stelfreeze...
- FADE: Hearts & Souls, the next in a series of digital short stories featuring my character Evan Fade will be available for download from Amazon within the next few weeks. You can pick up the first one here.
- The October Girl series for Monkeybrain Comics is back in full-time production, with release dates to be announced. We're taking the series bi-weekly starting with the next issue and I'm currently working on getting the next three issues wrapped up so we can be well ahead of schedule when the series resumes.
- The long-delayed NIGHT FOLK novel is also finally nearing completion, with several weeks in March and April set aside for final edits and work on the interior illustrations. Look for more news and some sneak peeks at work on it in early April.
- And if I haven't mentioned it before, I've returned to the world of Doctor Who to provide covers for the latest series of IDW's DOCTOR WHO CLASSICS reprints. This run features some classic tales of the Seventh Doctor as played by Sylvester McCoy. McCoy has always been a personal favorite of mine, so when they asked if I'd be interested in doing the covers for this series, I couldn't turn it down.

Odds & Ends...
Forgive the radio silence. Between Blackburn Burrow, The October Girl, Night Folk, and the usual pile of secret things, I've been even more overwhelmed than usual. But I thought I'd post a few updates on various things...
- I'm working on the next two issues of October Girl now (#3 and #4). Not sure what the release dates will be, but after issue 4 we'll be going bi-weekly with it. Granted, there will probably be a few hiccups along the way, but bi-weekly is what we're aiming for...
- After endless fits and starts, my novel NIGHT FOLK is finally back on track. Had to tear it down and build it back up a few times, but my experience working on October Girl and writing a few connected short stories (more on that at a later date) helped me refine a few things and added some much needed confidence to my writing toolbox. I should have an update on a completion date for that project within the next month.
- Speaking of NIGHT FOLK and The October Girl, I had to push back the Halloween Special to keep up with other deadlines. I'll be returning to work on it after I'm finished with the next two October Girl issues. Hated having to push it back, since Halloween is kind of a special time of year for me, but hopefully I can have out in time for Christmas which means I'll have to call it the 2012 Holiday Special. Again, more information on that in coming weeks.
Plenty of other things going on that I can't tell about just yet, but I'll post about them here just as soon as I can.
On The Web: Comic Book Road Show...
Did an interview with the guys from Comic Book Road Show a while back, and it just went live. Here's a link.

Dan Waters Breaks My Heart...
Sorry, couldn't resist that post title...
My best friend Dan Waters has a new book from Hyperion, BREAK MY HEART 1,000 TIMES. I've mentioned it before, but today is the day it hits shelves. I was lucky to read an advance copy and have to say I can't possibly recommend it enough. He might be my friend, but Dan is also one of my favorite writers, and there are several moments in this book that are so wonderful I'm actually jealous I hadn't thought of them myself. If you get a chance, pick it up and give it a read. It's really, truly wonderful.
