Sketchbook: Eleventh Doctor, Animated...

Another Eleventh Doctor sketch, this time in a more animated style. One of my regrets from my time on the WHO comic was that I was never able to convince anyone to let me do a series of kids' comics featuring the Doctor. The closest I got was a series of short comic stories for a card company in the UK, but because of the time constraints, I wasn't able to develop a new, more kid-friendly style for them. If I had, it might have looked a little like this piece. Or, if I'd been smart, I would have just gotten the great Adrian Salmon to draw them.

That looks Great! Kids comics sound like a frankly brilliant idea. I would think BBC would have seen the merit since it's considered a family show.

They do a wonderful series of kids comics in the Doctor Who Adventures magazine in the UK, but so far there isn't an American equivalent. It's a harder sell in the American market where our audience is seen as older and predominantly male, though I think that perception isn't entirely accurate, or there's at least the potential to reach out beyond the stereotypical superhero comic book readership.
